A film doesn’t necessarily have to be a blockbuster hit on Twitter or in the Oscar race to be considered worth seeing. For a variety of reasons, a movie may be neglected even though it is still a good or even thought-provoking viewing experience. Sadly, there is no scientific explanation for why films are overlooked, but if there were, producers would undoubtedly pay to find out. Over the years, everything has been overlooked, from modest Sundance Jury Awards films like Step to large-scale projects like Tenet. Even films with a large cast that include well-known actors like Zoë Kravitz, Kristen Stewart, or Timothée Chalamet are overlooked.
The Adventureland
No memes have yet to be created from this cast, which is so loaded that it should be illegal. Adventureland, a film about the worst summer job in the world, stars Kristen Stewart, Jesse Eisenberg, Bill Hader, Ryan Reynolds, Kristen Wiig, and Martin Starr. The movie centers on James Brennan (Jesse Eisenberg), a recent college graduate who had intended to backpack across Europe but was forced to take a summer job due to his parents’ financial difficulties. He eventually finds himself at Adventureland, a shaky local amusement park, where he meets Kristen Stewart’s character Emily Lewin.
Attack the Block
John Boyega, a British-Nigerian actor, played Moses in Attack the Block before he was famously recognized as Finn in Star Wars. The May 2011 release of this fast-paced, mildly frightening, but unquestionably humorous science fiction adventure was directed by Joe Cornish. In the midst of a housing project that rapidly turns into a haunted mansion, a street gang of South London adolescents faces out against an invasion of slimy alien monsters.
Middle of Nowhere
Despite winning the Best Director Award at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival, Middle of Nowhere is still regarded as a mostly unnoticed film. The film follows Ruby, a young lady (Emayatzy Corinealdi), as she faces challenges after making the contentious choice to forgo her career goals as a medical student in response to her husband’s incarceration. The award-winning film, which was written and directed by Ava DuVernay, tells a tale of self-discovery.
Miss Stevens
Yes, Lili Reinhart and Timothée Chalamet costarred in an adolescent comedy-drama, but for some reason, nobody saw it. The 2016 film Miss Stevens, which was directed by Julie Hart, centers on a teacher who is escorting a class on a weekend excursion to a state theater competition. Although it garnered a New York Times review and debuted at SXSW in March 2016, it somehow went unnoticed until it appeared in theaters the following September.
Tenet
The excitement around director Christopher Nolan’s Warner Bros. production was short-lived, though, since the film debuted in theaters on August 12, 2020. With the exception of a few drive-ins, Nolan would only let the film to be shown in theaters, which kept the majority of people from ever seeing it. The film had little chance of doing well at the box office because many theaters were still shuttered or just partially operational because of the pandemic. Black Klansman and Ballers star John David Washington, together with Malcolm and Marie, play the lead role, while Robert Pattinson provides supporting acting. Travis Scott, who created a song and merchandise for the film’s release, also composed the music for Tenet, however his efforts were unsuccessful.
