The purpose of horror movies is to frighten, frighten, and unnerve us. However, occasionally a movie deviates so much from the usual (and our comfort zone) that we never want to watch it again. These 17 disturbing horror movies are listed in no particular order since they’re all really difficult to watch.
- The Exorcist
One of the scariest movies ever made is The Exorcist. The majority of individuals argue over its watchability rather than that. There are numerous accounts of people who, out of curiosity, decided to see it once, but found it so horrifying that they never wanted to see it again.
Perhaps it was the image of a young girl rotating her head in a full 360-degree round or masturbating with a crucifix. Regan’s spider journey down the stairs could have also been the cause. You wouldn’t want to rewatch this classic horror movie for a number of reasons.
- The Woman
In The Woman, the final surviving member of a cannibalistic clan is taken in by an apparently “normal” family. It is quickly apparent that the family may be more primitive than the inmate.
You won’t want to watch this movie more than once because of the graphic content (which usually centers on cannibalism) and a child’s sexual assault. Please understand that this movie raises important issues regarding misogynistic conduct and those we consider to be “normal” in our daily lives. Watching it is worthwhile, but just once.
- The Human Centipede
You really don’t need to see this movie even once, and it might win the prize for the year’s most tacky film. The video chronicles the actions of a cruel scientist who creates a single, lengthy digestive tract by sewing three victims together, mouth to anus. You won’t be able to persuade yourself to watch the entire movie once, much less find a cause to do it again when one of the victims has a bowel movement for the first time.
- The Hostel
With this crazily graphic and torture-filled horror picture about three Americans traveling through Europe, director Eli Roth—the king of torture porn—made a big impression on the independent film industry. You will never forget what happens when these dimwitted, too-old-to-be frat lads become involved in a horrible game of human hunting.
There is virtually no reason to ever see this needlessly violent film again because the torture sequences are prolonged to add to the gore, but none of them have any satisfying ending.
- The final residence on the left
The 1970s-era original movie is regarded as a cult masterpiece. Its source of renown, though, is very unsettling: both the original and the remake include a lengthy and gory sequence of two girls being raped in the woods.
When you see the rapists receive their well-earned justice in the most heinous ways possible (the remake is far more cruel than the original), you will feel both satisfied and ashamed of yourself for being so happy to watch someone else suffer from terrible agony. It’s enough to make you declare, “Once is enough,” even if the rapists end up being victims.
- The Girl Next Door
In the horrifying novel The Girl Next Door, a woman tortures a young girl residing at her house sexually, physically, and psychologically. An American Crime, another movie, remained true to the horrific event. Indeed, a poor little girl who was living with a psychopath while her parents fled and joined the circus actually experienced some of the events depicted in the movie.
Nothing will prevent you from viewing a movie twice if witnessing a girl being sexually abused with a coke bottle and seeing kids torturing another kid aren’t enough.
- Manic
This is a relatively recent horror movie about a young man who is far more fixated on store mannequins than he should be. Elijah Wood plays the role in one of his best performances to date. Oh, and he has some major social problems in addition to being a serial killer.
The spectator sees the entire movie via the killer’s eyes, which is what makes this serial killer movie so distinctive. His face is only seen in shiny surfaces like mirrors. It is impossible to stop viewing this film since it shows the gory killings (the majority of them involve scalping later) from the first-person point of view. However, the filthy sensation you get at the end of the film makes you want to stop watching it altogether.
